This page explains how and why the personal data of participants in the BBMRI.it Community of Practice (CoP) Platform are processed when they visit or interact with the following websites:

This Privacy Notice is provided pursuant to Article 13 of the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, hereinafter the “GDPR”), the applicable Italian data protection legislation—including Legislative Decree No. 196/2003, as subsequently amended, in particular by Legislative Decree No. 101/2018—and the General Decision of the Italian Data Protection Authority on cookies dated 8 May 2014.

The purpose of this Privacy Notice is to explain why participants’ personal data are collected and processed, how this information is used, and what rights participants have in relation to their data.

Purposes and processing of personal data

Active participation in the BBMRI.it Community of Practice may require participants to provide certain personal data. If these data are not provided, participants may be unable to access all the services for which data processing is required, including registration and participation in the Community of Practice through the virtual spaces and interactive tools available on the websites listed above.

Any personal data freely and voluntarily provided by participants through the BBMRI.it CoP Platform are collected and processed in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and applicable Italian legislation. These data are used exclusively for the purposes described in this Privacy Notice.

Types of data processed

Participants may browse the Platform freely and anonymously and view its publicly available content.

Registration is required to participate actively in discussions, contribute to the co-creation of proposals, and share comments or other written content.

Data provided voluntarily

Registration is necessary to participate actively in the Platform’s co-creation, knowledge-sharing and discussion activities.

When registering, participants will be asked to provide:

  • Their first and last name, or the name of the association, network or organisation they represent. The name used during registration will be displayed in discussions and other active Community of Practice activities.

  • Their email address. Participants acting on behalf of an association, network or organisation should use their institutional email address.

Pseudonyms are not used within the BBMRI.it Community of Practice. Its interactions and activities are intended to support the open sharing of challenges and good practices and to strengthen a participatory, inclusive and open community model.

Participants’ rights

Participants may, at any time:

  • Access and update the personal data available in their profile.

  • Request the deletion of their profile from the Platform.

  • Request the removal of their email address from the newsletter mailing list.

Data Controller

The Data Controller is BBMRI.it, the Italian National Node of BBMRI-ERIC.
